Collier County exclusive rights to host the RETIS FACE 9 Florida Executive Training
Program in the fall of 2015, and providing funding in the amount of up to $12,000 for
financial support in facilitating the event.
OBJECTIVE: Approval by the Board of County Commissioners (Board) of an agreement
between the County and RETIS, the French network for innovation, to provide Collier County
exclusive rights to host the RETIS FACE 9 Florida Executive Training Program in the fall of
2015. The agreement with RETIS for the Fall 2015 FACE 9 Florida Executive Training
Program stipulates that RETIS will hold the event in Collier County, Florida, and provides
funding in the amount of up to $12,000 to reimburse travel and lodging costs associated with
attending the event for up to ten (10) French innovation companies and two (2) RETIS event
operations staff, at up to $1,000 per approved company and operations staff persons.
CONSIDERATIONS: Collier County successfully hosted RETIS FACE 5 in the spring of
2014. The positive community experience and potential international opportunities of the visit
have stimulated interest from RETIS to re- engage for a fall 2015 visit. Continuing to nurture this
important international relationship is a significant step for Collier County's economic
development efforts. The event will focus on exposing visiting French companies to our
community and providing technical assistance for French companies willing to develop
businesses in Collier County, while also providing Collier and Florida innovation companies
with facilitated access to French and European business partnerships and international trade. As
provided for in the Office of Business and Economic Development Business Plan, this
partnership would advance a key economic development goal of international business attraction
with potential for foreign- direct investment.
The FACE 9 Florida Executive Training Program equates to an in -bound international business
development mission affording our community an opportunity to recruit those desirable
international firms to locate in Collier County. The proposed agreement outlines the benefits and
obligations of both RETIS and Collier County, and stipulates for Collier County to provide
financial support of up to $12,000 to offset transportation and lodging costs for up to 10 French
innovation companies and up to 2 RETIS operations staff as part of Collier's facilitation of their
participation the RETIS FACE 9 Executing Training Program planned for the fall of 2015.
The partnership with RETIS will further facilitate the County's economic development by
increasing international trade and increasing additional business opportunities that will create
high value jobs for County residents and businesses. The opportunity to host the next FACE 9
Florida Executive Training Session will contribute to Collier County's position as a hub for
French and European companies aiming to expand in Florida, while assisting Florida -based

innovation companies in gaining access to French and European business or technology
incentives or other partnerships.
The Collier County Office of Business and Economic Development has worked to create a
mutually beneficial agreement with RETIS that will continue established momentum of
relationship building with RETIS and pursue garnering local partners and community support to
facilitate a successful event in the fall.
FISCAL IMPACT: The maximum cost to the County for this in -bound international business
development mission is $12,000, to offset transportation and lodging costs up to $1,000 each, for
up to 10 French innovation companies' and two RETIS staff persons visiting Collier County for
the Fall 2015, FACE 9 program. Sufficient funds are available in the Economic Development
budget (001- 138790) for the proposed program.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
