PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Bob Votruba devoted 10 months to a perimeter ride of the United States, called
"Ring Our Country with Kindness," to raise awareness and offer comfort for
individuals with special needs. The ride began and will end in Collier County; and,
WHEREAS, Bob Votruba has challenged many school children and adults in Collier County to
reach One Million Acts of Kindness in their lifetimes through his nationwide bus and
bicycle tours, including visits to the seven State of Florida veteran nursing homes
offering comfort to veterans and thanking them for their service to our country;
and,
WHEREAS, Bob Votruba wants to raise awareness for those veterans who often face multiple
mental health issues resulting from their honorable service; and,
WHEREAS, suicide prevention and awareness of this persistent challenge facing our nation's
youth is one of Bob Votruba's priorities; and,
WHEREAS, Bob Votruba has a positive message for everyone he meets on his journeys; that
kindness is a virtue that everyone can practice every day to prevent bullying
behaviors, particularly in our nation's young people, that can be reduced
by seeking more parental involvement and adult leadership in young people's lives;
and,
WHEREAS, when all generations of Collier County residents work together to build a peaceful,
kind, and harmonious community, everyone benefits from such interactions every
day; and,
WHEREAS, each resident of Collier County has the potential to be proactive in spreading the
message of kindness in their everyday life within Collier County.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that January 6 - 14, 2018, be designated as
KINDNESS AWARENESS WEEK IN COLLIER COUNTY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 12th Day of December 2017.
