P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, On September 5, 2017, our teamwork as Collier County
employees was put to the test as the Governor declared all of
Florida in a State of Emergency with Collier County Hurricane
Irma’s mainland target; and,
WHEREAS, with extraordinary dedication, Collier County employees placed
duty above personal matters exemplifying their professionalism in
every department and division; serving when and wherever
needed; and,
WHEREAS, during mandatory evacuations, hurricane force winds, and
encroaching storm surge, Collier County employees acted with
courage and stamina day and night to safeguard the County; and,
WHEREAS, following the storm, with damaged homes, fuel shortages, power
outages and compromised cell phone capabilities, employees
stayed focused on clearing roads, restoring utilities, and keeping
in communication with frightened citizens around the clock; and,
WHEREAS, a grateful community is emerging from the trauma and
destruction with renewed appreciation for the role County
Government plays in their lives; and,
WHEREAS, with great pride, the County Manager and the Department Heads
extend their heartfelt thanks for these outstanding efforts in
supporting and protecting our neighbors, their property and their
businesses during Hurricane Irma.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of
Collier County, Florida, that a grateful Board recognizes the
outstanding work and extraordinary dedication of county
employees in preparing, protecting and safeguarding our
community before, during and after Hurricane Irma.
