Agenda 10/10/2017 Item #16F1410/10/2017
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to authorize a FY2018 budget amendment in Emergency Disaster Fund (003) in
the amount of $400,000 intended to provide budget to pay for goods and services incurred prior to
and in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. Funds in the amount of $500,000 were previously
authorized by the board on September 6, 2017 but these FY2017 funds were not encumbered by
fiscal year end and thus this budget did not roll forward because Fund (003) is not a capital fund.
OBJECTIVE: To provide funding for expenditures associated with the Hurricane Irma cleanup.
CONSIDERATIONS: On September 6, 2017 there was an emergency meeting regarding Hurricane
Irma and its impact on Collier County, during that meeting the Board of County Commissioners adopted
resolution 17-147 and related budget amendments. One of the budget amendments was for Emergency
Disaster fund (003) in the amount of $500,000 in which only $12,500 were encumbered in FY17. The
remaining funds did not roll forward because Fund (003) is not a capital fund.
To pay for goods and serves incurred prior to and in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma we request to
appropriate funds in the amount of $400,000 from reserves to operating expenses.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funds are available in Emergency Disaster Fund (003) Reserves.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this
request.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners authorize a budget amendment in
the amount of $400,000 from the Emergency Disaster Fund (003) Reserves.
