EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to reappoint a member to the Immokalee Beautification MSTU Advisory
Committee.
OBJECTIVE: To reappoint one member to the Immokalee Beautification MSTU Advisory Committee
to a four-year term expiring on September 23, 2021.
CONSIDERATIONS: This five member committee was created to assist the Board of County
Commissioners in the business affairs of the Immokalee Beautification Taxing District, and prepare and
recommend an itemized budget to carry out the business of the district for each fiscal year. Membership
represents the population of the area within the Immokalee Beautification District as follows: 4 members
shall be permanent residents within the MSTU and 1 member may be an owner of residential or
commercial property within the MSTU or may be an individual, an officer of a corporation, or a partner
of a partnership. Terms are 4 years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup.
There is one current vacancy, and one seat expiring on September 23, 2017. The vacancies were
advertised and applications were received from the following:

ATTENDANCE: In the past two years Ms. Thomas has had no unexcused absences. Attendance records
are included in the backup.
COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its regular meeting on August 23, 2017, the committee
voted unanimously to recommend that Ms. Thomas be reappointed to her seat on the committee, to a
four-year term expiring on September 23, 2021. A recommendation memo is included in the backup. The
remaining vacancy will continue to be advertised.
FISCAL IMPACT: None.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None.
RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee
Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the reappointment.

This 5 member committee was created by Ord. No. 85-65, amended by Ord. No. 90-8 and 92-40
to assist the Board of County Commissioners in the business affairs of the Immokalee
Beautification Taxing District, and prepare and recommend an itemized budget to carry out the
business of the district for each fiscal year. Membership represents the population of the area
within the Immokalee Beautification District. Ord. No. 2002-52 was adopted on 10/22/02
changing membership as follows: 4 members shall be permanent residents within the MSTU
and 1 member may be an owner of residential or commercial property with in the MSTU or may
be an individual, an officer of a corporation, or a partner of a partnership. Terms are 4 years.
