P R O C L A M A T I O N
WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States established a foundation for the
success of our nation through core beliefs such as popular sovereignty
and limited government; and,
WHEREAS, September 17, 2017, marks the 230th anniversary of the framing of
the Constitution of the United States of America by the constitutional
convention; and,
WHEREAS, Constitution Week was officially declared and established by President
Dwight D. Eisenhower on August 2, 1956; and,
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to officially recognize this magnificent document
and the anniversary of its creation; and,
WHEREAS, the Naples-on-the-Gulf Chapter of the Daughters of the American
Revolution supports the perpetuation of the memory and spirit of the
men and women who achieved American independence by the
preservation of historical relics and locations, as well as records of
their individual service, the encouragement of research and publication
of historical documents, the promotion of patriotism and love of
country, and the support of educational facilities; and,
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to officially recognize the patriotic celebrations
which will commemorate the occasion of Constitution Week throughout
Collier County and across our state and nation.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that the week of September 17-23 be designated as
CONSTITUTION WEEK IN COLLIER COUNTY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 12th Day of September, 2017.
