EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to recognize Silvia Puente, Library Program Specialist, Public Services
Department as the July 2017 Employee of the Month.
OBJECTIVE: To recognize the efforts and accomplishments of an employee who has made significant
contributions to the organization or to our community.
CONSIDERATIONS: Silvia Puente has been with the Collier County Public Library, Immokalee
Branch for 16 years.
Silvia is a Program Specialist, but she also manages the Immokalee Library branch, somet imes with just
one other employee. She always maintains a positive attitude and is very appreciative of all the help
provided by other libraries, and always tries to reciprocate when she can. In addition to her regular duties,
Silvia ran Citizenship Classes until the program had to be cancelled due to staff shortages. She is a
member of the Immokalee Interagency Council and also a founding board member and current Director
of the Collier Resource Center (assistance for residents in need). There are multiple stories from Silvia’s
colleagues and staff about how she goes above and beyond every day. Staff and patrons alike have the
utmost respect for her. Silvia is a “go to person” in her community. If you have a question, “ask Silvia.” If
you need assistance “ask Silvia.” When in doubt, “Silvia knows!” She volunteers her time to help anyone
in need, providing support, resources and hope to her patrons. She exhibits such a sense of pride in her
staff, her Library, and in her community. These are just some of the reasons she is so deserving of the
Employee of the Month award.
FISCAL IMPACT: The selected “Employee of the Month” receives a $150.00 cash award. Funds for
this are available in the employee’s budget cost center.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There are no Growth Management Impacts associated with
this Executive Summary.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve the recognition of Silvia Puente as the July 2017 Employee of the
Month.
