Subcommittee Minutes
The Emergency Management and EMS FY10 Budget Subcommittee met in the
Emergency Services Complex, EMS conference room B on May 13, 2009 at 8:30 a.m.
In attendance were subcommittee members Gina Downs and Janet Vasey; Emergency
Services Director Dan Summers, EMS Chief Jeff Page, Dave Stedman, Artie Bay and
Christine Chase; OMB analysts Laura Davisson and Sherry Pryor.
The group discussed Emergency Management personnel and expense issues. EMS
discussion centered on the number of unfunded units under the millage neutral option,
call volume for zones at Isles of Capri and Ave Maria, need for replacement
ambulances, CIP project funding and impact on helicopter service of millage neutral
option.
Group discussed the need for Emergency Management Director to quickly access
funding to resolve an emerging incident before it becomes a disaster. Possible
solutions to this problem were discussed including a change to budget policy or a
standing allocation of some percentage of the Emergency Disaster Fund (003).
