David weigel has requested that the attached Notice of Special Meeting with
the Board of County Commissioners be posted in all the usual places around
the government center. Additionally, a copy of the notice needs to be
placed in all of the media boxes (as well as faxed to all media), e-mail to
all libraries and parks and recreation facilities (to be placed on doors and
other public areas) and it would be helpful if this notice could be run on
Channel 54.
Also please put out a press release regarding the Notice.

Notice is hereby given that the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, will
hold a special meeting on TUESDAY, JUNE 3, 2003 at 9:00 A.M. in the Board o fCounty
Commissioners Chambers, 3rd Floor, W. Harmon Turner (Administration/F) Building, Collier
County Government Center, 3301 East Tamiami Trail, Naples, Florida. The Board's agenda will

THE BOARD TO CONSIDER A RESOLUTION PROVIDING NOTICE OF
INTENT TO EXTEND THE 5-CENTS, 6-CENTS AND NINTH CENT GAS
TAXES AND INSTRUCTIONS TO STAFF TO PREPARE THE APPROPRIATE
ORDINANCE [S].
[PLEASE NOTE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PUD-IOU
WORKSHOP WILL IMMEDIATELY FOLLOW THIS SPECIAL MEETING.]
In Regards to the Special Meeting and Workshop:
All interested parties are invited to attend, to register to speak and to submit their
objections, if any, in writing, to the Board prior to the special meeting.
All registered public speakers will be limited to five (5) minutes unless permission for
additional time is granted by the Chairman.
Any person who decides to appeal a decision of the Board will need a record of the
proceedings pertaining thereto, and therefore, may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the
proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is
to be based.
Collier County Ordinance No. 99-22 requires that all lobbyists shall, before engaging in
any lobbying activities (including, but not limited to, addressing the Board of County
Commissioners), register with the Clerk to the Board at the Board Minutes and Records
Department.
If you are a person with a disability who needs any accommodation in order to participate
in this proceeding, you are entitled, at no cost to you, to the provision of certain assistance.

Special Board Meeting - Resolution of Intent to Extend 5-Cents, 6-
Cents and Ninth Cent Fuel Taxes to the Year 2025
Attached for your review is a copy of the Resolution to be presented for adoption at the
Special Board of County Commissioners' meeting on June 3, 2003. The Special Meeting
will occur immediately prior to the PUD Workshop at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

A RESOLUTION BY THE COLLIER COUNTY BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PROVIDING NOTICE OF
INTENT TO EXTEND THE ADDITIONAL FIVE CENTS,
SIX CENTS AND NINTH CENT FUEL TAXES PURSUANT
TO FLORIDA STATUTES, SECTIONS 336.025 (1)(a) AND (b)
AND 336.021 UP TO THE YEAR 2025, AND PROVIDING
FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO STAFF TO PREPARE THE
APPROPRIATE ORDINANCES,
WHEREAS, Florida Statutes, Section 336.025 (1)(a) and (b) authorized the County to
levy an additional Five Cents and Six Cents in local option fuel taxes by ordinance adopted by
the membership of the governing body of the County; and
WHEREAS, Florida Statutes, Section 336.021 Florida Statutes, authorized the County to
levy an additional Ninth Cent in local option fuel taxes by ordinance adopted by a majority plus
one vote of the membership of the governing body of the County or by referendum; and
WHEREAS, Collier County had previously adopted ordinances levying and extending
the additional Five Cents and Six Cents fuel tax; and
WHEREAS, Collier County voters had previously approved, by referendum, the levy of
the Ninth Cent fuel tax; and
WHEREAS, the additional Five Cents, Six Cents and Ninth Cent fuel taxes may be
extended; and
WHEREAS, Collier County intends to extend the levy of the additional Five Cents, Six
Cents and Ninth Cent fuel taxes by ordinances adopted by a majority plus one vote of the
membership of the governing body of the County where needed to the year 2025.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA that:
It is the intent of this Board to extend the imposition of the additional Five Cents, Six Cents and
Ninth Cent fuel taxes up to and including year 2025 or until terminated, changed or amended by
the Board of County Commissioners; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that:
Collier County staff is instructed to prepare the necessary ordinance or ordinances for the
extensions of the additional Five Cents, Six Cents and Ninth Cent fuel taxes for presentation to
the Board of County Commissioners at the next available regularly scheduled Board meeting
after duly noticing and advertising the proposed ordinance(s).
This Resolution, adopted after Motion, Second, and roll call vote as follows:
