07/11/2017 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Recommendation to appoint two members to the Black Affairs Advisory Board. OBJECTIVE: To appoint two members to the Black Affairs Advisory Board. CONSIDERATIONS: This nine member board was created in 1991 to identify and evaluate pr oblems unique to the black community, review and recommend ways to ensure open communication between minorities and Collier County government, and provide periodic reports to the Board of County Commissioners. Terms are four years. A list of the current membership is included in the backup. There are currently four vacancies on this advisory board. The vacancies were advertised and applications were received from the following: APPLICANT CATEGORY DIST. VOTER ADVISORY COMM. Arthur Boyer n/a 5 Yes None Gary Petitdor n/a 5 Yes None COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION: At its meeting on June 19, 2017, the committee voted to recommend that Dr. Boyer be appointed to a four-year term which shall expire on June 25, 2021, and that Mr. Petitor be appointed to fill the remainder of a vacant term expiring on June 25, 2018. A recommendation email is included in the backup to this item. FISCAL IMPACT: None. GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: None. RECOMMENDATION: That the Board of County Commissioners adopts the Committee Recommendation, and directs the County Attorney to prepare a resolution confirming the appointments.
