WHEREAS, Collier County Bureau of Emergency Services' Department of Emergency
Medical Services (EMS) and its paramedics care for victims of sudden
life-threatening injuries and illnesses, often under stressful conditions
and in high-risk situations to save the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, EMS paramedics must rapidly assess, manage and effectively provide
care in unpredictable situations that may require putting themselves in
danger; and
WHEREAS, EMS paramedics are often the first contact many residents and visitors
to Florida have with the health care system, the residents of and visitors
to the State of Florida benefit daily from paramedics' efforts; and,
WHEREAS, EMS paramedics provide education, assessment, prevention and referral
services in addition to their emergency activities; and,
WHEREAS, it is critical that the public be made aware of, understand, support and
successfully use its local emergency medical services system; and,
WHEREAS, recognition is due to all emergency medical professionals serving in a
variety of roles for their unselfish dedication to Florida's residents and
visitors; and,
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that May 21 through May 27, 2017 be designated as
EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK IN COLLIER COUNTY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 9TH Day of MAY, 2017.
