Each month, The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Collier
County Commissioners recognize an organization that has enhanced the community
through financial, volunteer and active involvement in organizations and programs that
assist in creating a better quality of life for all citizens in Collier County.
The honoree is presented with a commemorative plaque at the Board of County
Commissioners meeting. A photo and news release is distributed to all Southwest
Florida media and Chamber members, as well as featured in Chamber Connect™, the
Chamber’s website, and promoted through social media.

Business Description (50 words or less): Headquartered in Naples, Florida, the David
Lawrence Center (DLC) is a leading provider of mental health and substance abuse
addiction services.
Year Founded: 1968
How has the organization enhanced the community through financial, volunteer and
active involvement in organizations and programs? (500 words or less):
Long recognized as the safety net mental health provider for Collier County, David
Lawrence Center (DLC) has consistently provided exceptional care to thousands of
individuals each year. In fiscal year 2016 alone, 9,015 individuals were treated in one of
DLC’s mental health or substance abuse treatment programs and with a total of over
222,000 services provided to both children and adults. In addition to its main campus off of
Golden Gate Parkway, DLC has satellite locations off of Horseshoe Drive in Naples and on
North First Street in Immokalee. David Lawrence offers a full continuum of services from

adult and children’s crisis services and substance abuse detoxification/residential treatment
to a multitude of outpatient services at all three sites and community-based services offered
in the home and in local schools. Fully 30% of services assist children. In 2016, the
Children’s Crisis Unit completed an expansion project to help accommodate the growing
needs in Collier County. In 2017, DLC opened a new Children’s Outpatient Center,
Children’s partial hospitalization program, an onsite pharmacy, and, in collaboration with
the Healthcare Network of SWFL, will be opening a primary care physician office in May
at its main campus. All those in need are welcomed to receive care, regardless of ability to
pay or insurance status. As a 501 (c) (3) organization overseen by a voluntary board of
directors, DLC is primarily supported by state and county grants, fees for services, and
donations from the public. Operating with an annual budget of roughly $21 million, DLC
has a staff of almost 300 employees, dedicated to improving the health of those they serve.
The David Lawrence Center plays a vital role in the overall health, safety and economic
fabric of Collier County. In order to accomplish this, David Lawrence Center collaborates
with a plethora of community partners including Collier County Sheriff’s office, the Court
System, Collier County Health and Human Services and Collier County Public Schools to
name a few.
