Advisory Committee 3299 East Tamiami Trail Suite 103 Naples,FL 34112 MEETING MINUTES March 8, 2017 Sanctuary Club House, 7906 Haven Drive I. Call to Order Ms. Chapin called the meeting to order at 10:02 am. Roll call was taken and a quorum of three was established. II. Attendance Members: Chairman Dale Johnson(Excused), Vice Chairman Suzanne Chapin, Renato Fernandez, Janice Bundy, Holly Amodeo County: Harry Sells—Project Manager, Michelle Arnold, Director PTNE Division Others: Dayna Fendrick, Urban Green Studio, Inc., Robert Kindelan—Commercial Land Maintenance, III. Approval of Agenda Mr. Fernandez moved to approve the Agenda. Second by Ms.Amodeo. Carried 4-0. IV. Approval of Minutes: January 11, 2017 Mr. Fernandez moved to approve the minute's o January11, 2017. Second by Ms. Bundy. Carried 4-0. V. Budget Report Januaryl1,2017 A. Commissioners request to recite "Pledge of Allegiance" at each meeting. Consensus was that the MSTU would comply. The Pledge of Allegiance recited by all. B. Mr. Sells noted that Renato Fernandez' term expires 10/27/2017. The status of the MSTU on Oct 1, 2016 will determine whether he will have to apply for the position or not. C. Mr. Sells distributed and reviewed the Radio Road East MSTU budget report for Fund 166, dated March 8, 2017 noting: • Remaining in available operating expense $2,498.92. • There is zero revenue from ad valorem taxes and $124,300 transferred from Fund 111, (the new county wide landscaping MSTU.) • There was no deduction for reimbursement for staff Support which was $24,500 in FY 16 which brings the total funds available to almost the same as FY 16. • The budget for the year will be fairly tight but with adjustments. There is $1,600 committed for Juristaff which will be cancelled and approximately $4,000 extra in the Landscape Architect PO. If an emergency arises, the $8,999 allocated for Mulch could be utilized. D. Tree removal for medians 31, and 36 The Dead Royal Palm, Buccaneer Palm, and one Pigeon Plum trees on medians 31 and 34 were removed by blunt cutting of the trunk at ground level by Signature Tree at a cost of$190. VI. Landscape Architect's Report—Urban Green Studio, Dayna Fendrick Ms. Fendrick distributed the "Landscape Architect's Field Report 2016 8" for field visit on 10/12, 13, 31/2016 • Viburnum continues to have some sporadic dieback throughout the beds as a result of a specialized fungus. The beds have been treated twice with a recommended (UF) fungicide and the dead plants have been removed. Some previously dead plants are growing from the roots. • There is some yellowing of Liriope, but it is generally in good condition. • The Golden Creeper is continuing to improve and looks good overall. Fire ants are still evident. • The condition of the Purple Queen is variable, with some doing extremely well and others barely surviving. • Muhly grass should be cut back in late April after season is over. • On Median#34, the second Royal Palm is showing yellowing foliage and needs to be treated. VII. Landscape Maintenance Report—Commercial Landscape Maintenance- Robert Kindelan Mr. Kindelan updated the Committee on landscape maintenance noting: • Mr. Kindelan gave a short overview of the maintenance activities and talked about the fungus treatment restrictions for the Viburnum. VIII. Old Business The committee held a general discussion on having input into the quality of maintenance once the responsibility was transferred to Road Maintenance. The opinion of the committee was that they would like to control the maintenance for another year. Michelle Arnold and Sue Chapin will try to contact Commissioner Saunders to discuss the possibility of doing so. IX. New Business None X. Committee Comments None XI.
