DASAC Minutes 11/15/2016Novcmbcr 15,2016 MMTES OF THE MEETING OF COLLIER COUNTY DOⅣESTIC ANIMAL SERVICES ADVISORY COnIITTEE Naples, Florida November 15,2016 LET IT BE REMEMBERED, that the Collier County Domestic Animal Services Advisory Committee in and for the County of Collier, having conducted business herein, met on this date at 6:30 PM in REGULAR SESSION at Domestic Animal Services Training Room, Davis Blvd., East Naples, Florida, with the following members present: CTIAIRMAN: Vacant VICE CHAIRMAN: James Seabasty SECRETARY: Marjorie Bloom James Rich James Spartz Mary Baker Aimee Leteux Patrice Worcester ALSO PRESENT:Darcy Andrade,Director,DAS Kン 電Lynch,Shelter Operations Manager,DAS Dan Crossi,Animal Cont,ol Supervisor,DAS Katie Sibert,Volunteer Coordinator,DAS Kellie Carron,Administat市 e Assistant,DAS Novcmbcr 15,2016 I. Cdl to Order Vice Cheir Jemes Seebesty called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. II. Attendrnce A quorum was established. Keltie Cerroll presided over the projector displaying the Agenda packet. III. Approvel of Agenda Marjorie Bloom made a motion to approve the agenda, there was a second and the motion carried 7-0. IV. Approvel of Minutes of the September 20' 2016 Mecting Mary Ba*er made a motion to accept the minutes of the September 20th meeting, there was a second and the motion carried 7-0. V. Old Business There was no old business discussed. VI. New Busincss A. Director's Report Darrry Andrade advised the Board that the next Adoptathon will be held Saturday December 3'd ttrough Sunday, December 46. The event wi[ sta( at 9:00 a.m. and nrn through 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Paws in the Park will also be held in Decernber on Saturday. December I 76. Ms. Andrade discussed vacant office spaces in the Winn Dixie plaza in Immokalee that are being considered for a new Immokalee office location. Ms. Andrede will conduct further research into the various spaces and bring information back to the Board for firther discussion. Dercy advised the Boad that she has contacted SNIP and VSA, two low cost spay/neuter organizations to determine if they would like to be included on the Domestic Animal Services webpage, but both organizations declined. Kyre Lynch advised the Board that a new Animal Care Specialist has been hired witl a tentative starting date at the end ofNovember. Katie Sibert informed the Board that volunteer hours in FYl6 doubled over t}.re previous year. November 15, 2016 B. New Member The Board welcomed new member Petrice Worcester. Ms. Worcester advised the Board that she is the Operations Director at the Humane Society Naples and provided a brief background. C. F"Yf 5 Shtisticel Review Darry Andrrde presided over a Powerpoint prcsentation ofthe Fiscal Year 2016 Multi-Year Statistical Review. D. Customer Setisfaction Survey Ms. Andrade provided the results from the most rccent customer satisfaction surveys that were conducted via email. E. Advisory Board Options The Board discussed various options for the future ofthe Board, including reducing the number of meetings to bi-annual, annual, dissolving the Board or making no changes. Ballots were passed out to the members so they could vote on their decision regarding any changes. Maty Beker asked about creating a "Friends of' group and was advised by Darcy Andrade that it was a separate issue. Jrmes Serbesty said that he believed that a Board is necessary, but should meet less frequently and that the staff is doing a great job. Marjorie Bloom stated that a Board isn't currently needed, but expressed concem that if staff changes, it could once again become necessary. Mary Beker advised that she sees a value in maintaining the Board. Jim Rich stated that he doesn't see the need for montbly meetings, but believes that the Advisory Board is a sormding board for staff. Jim Spartz advised that there are good lines of communication and the Board can hold additional meetings if needed and the Board can always change it back in the future. Aimee Leteeur stated that bi-monthly meetings are good to have and if staff changes, it could be a problem. Petrice Worcester said that it can be confirsing to the public to hold one annual meeting and tlen schedule others as needed. The Board voted and the ballots were counted by James Seabasty. Five Board members voted to continue Io hold bi-monthly meetings, one voted for bi-annual November 15,2016 meetings and one voted for annual meetings. As a result ofthe vote, the Advisory Board will continue to meet bi-monthly. VIII. Public Comments There were no public comments. IX, Advisory Board Member Comments Jim Spertz told the Board that he would be posting Adoptathon on the message board for the Sheriffs Office. He also advised that the Sherif s Office also uses Next Door, a social media application and he will pos Adoptathon there as well. .lim Rich moved to adjour* Motion received a second and wss canied 74.
