PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Collier County Sheriff's Office (CC5O) has a dedicated team of 56 public
safety telecommunicators who provide a vital link between the public and first
responders; and,
WHEREAS, the CCSO telecommunicators are the calming voices that get help on the way
to callers while at the same time giving callers any needed pre-arrival
instructions; and,
WHEREAS, in 2016, the CCSO telecommunicators answered 157,141 emergency 911 calls
and 310,169 non-emergency calls; and,
WHEREAS, in addition, the CCSO radio telecommunicators are vital to the timely
dispatch of calls and relaying critical information to the first responders,
while also accurately tracking activity; and,
WHEREAS, in 2016, the radio telecommunicators monitored more than 11 million radio
transmissions; and,
WHEREAS, in 2016, they had a direct impact on saving the lives of Collier County
residents, and were awarded five Life Save Awards and four Phoenix Awards
for successfully guiding callers through CPR; and
WHEREAS, the entire team of CCSO telecommunicators are truly dedicated to the
residents of Collier County and our first responders, by working tirelessly to
ensure that every caller receives expeditious, caring help.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier
County, Florida, that April 9 - 15, 2017 be designated as
NATIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK
IN COLLIER COUNTY
