EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Recommendation to increase the Land Acquisition Advisory Committee (LAAC) membership from
seven (7) members back to nine (9) members following the Board of County Commissioners
activation of a land acquisition phase for the Conservation Collier Program.
OBJECTIVE: To increase the LAAC membership from seven (7) members back to nine (9) members.
CONSIDERATIONS: On February 10, 2015, the Board approved Ordinance 2015-16 (Agenda item
17E), amending Ordinance 2002-63, as amended, that reduced the composition of the LAAC (more
popularly known as the Conservation Collier LAAC or "CCLAAC") from nine (9) members to seven (7)
members, and reduced the quorum from five (5) members to four (4) members when the program was not
in an active acquisition phase.
On February 14, 2015 (Agenda item 11B), the Board reauthorized the Conservation Collier Program to
begin land acquisition again. If this item is approved, the public will be notified that two seats on the
LAAC are available. Those recommended for the seats will be presented to the Board at a future meeting.
Ordinance 2002-63, as amended, requires members of LAAC to have expertise, knowledge or interest in
ecology, conservation of natural resources, real estate or land acquisition, land appr aisal, land
management, eco-tourism, or environmental education.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is no fiscal impact to restoring the LAAC membership to nine (9) members.
GROWTH MANAGEMENT IMPACT: There is no growth management impact associated with this
item.
LEGAL CONSIDERATIONS: This item is approved for form and legality and requires a majority vote
for Board action. - JAB
