Commissioners. The Commissioners reviewed and discussed the individual reco .," •dations for

3. Identify "Strategic Opportunity Sites" for Mixed Income Higher Densities (30+/- U/A)
Commissioner McDaniel moved to place the item in the "yes"column andfor staff to
present further information on the recommendation to the BCC. Second by Comm': 'over

Discussion occurred on whether the 30 units per acre requirement should be removed the
recommendation.
Commissioner McDaniel amended the motion to place the item in the "column andfor

unanimously 5—0.
4. Establish or Increase Administrative Approvals

or parking and sidewalks in developments for safety concerns and ensuring ample parking is
available so individuals are not parking in inappropriate areas or on the grass.
Commissioner Fiala amended the motion to place the item in the yes column subject to
removing the language (reduced parking, sidewalks, etc.). Second by Commissioner
Saunders. Motion carried 4 "yes"-1 "no." Commissioner Solis voted "no."

Discussion occurred with Commissioners noting the recommendations are in the information
gathering stages and it may not be beneficial in this case to eliminate the concept of reducing
parking, sidewalks, etc. A final determination on the item may be made at the time all options
in regards to the recommendation have been vetted by the BCC.

Housing Affordability"to reference the creation of opportunities of any of those in an income
level in need of adequate housing (lower income service personal, essential services providers in a
mid level income range, etc.).

Tim Nance noted the Golden Gate area protects stormwater resources, County wellfields and
provides an environmental buffer between urban uses and conservation lands. Many residents in
the area prefer lower density development and spoke in opposition to allowing the rental of guest
homes.
Mark Teaters spoke in opposition to allowing the rental of guest homes.
Antonio Dumornay noted it is extremely difficult for the average working person to find housing
in the County and hopes the issue may be addressed to benefit the younger individuals in„, -
County.

Tamara Paquette expressed concern on the level of pay for the mid level workforce (nurses,
firefighters, police officers, etc.) in the County and their ability to obtain housing in the area.

brought forward for review.

budget.

land use envirt,,I ,, t it is I ifficult for any developer to provide the housing opportunities being
discussed. Int .sr , densities and reducing the required development standards for these uses

Tim Nance r 'srted the Rural Fringe Mixed Use District requirements are under review and will
be presented the BCC and there may be opportunities for some of the receiving lands in the

ichaDalby, Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce noted workforce housing is the number
o'_ due for the Chamber and the organization can partner to help provide data on the issue and
im eove communications between parties.
