Adjourn January 17,2017 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF COLLIER COUNTY DOMESTIC ANIMAL SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE Naples, Florida, January 17, 2017 LET IT BE REMEMBERED, that the Collier County Domestic Animal Services Advisory Committee in and for the County of Collier, having conducted business herein, met on this date at 6:30 PM in REGULAR SESSION at Domestic Animal Services Training Room, Davis Blvd., East Naples, Florida, with the following members present: CHAIRMAN: Vacant VICE CHAIRMAN: James Seabasty SECRETARY: Marjorie Bloom James Rich James Spartz (late) Mary Baker Aimee Leteux Patrice Worcester ALSO PRESENT: Kyra Lynch, Shelter Operations Manager, DAS Dan Grossi, Animal Control Supervisor, DAS Kellie Carroll, Administrative Assistant, DAS 1 January 17.2017 I. Call to Order Vice Chair James Seabasty called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m. II. Attendance A quorum was established. Kellie Carroll presided over the projector displaying the Agenda packet. III. Approval of Agenda Jim Rick made a motion to approve the agenda, there was a second and the motion carried 6-0. IV. Approval of Minutes of the November 15,2016 Meeting Marjorie Bloom made a motion to accept the minutes of the November 15th meeting, there was a second and the motion carried 6-0. V. Old Business There was no old business discussed. VI. New Business A. Director's Report Kyra Lynch informed the Board that the Paws in the Park event raised $4,964.82 for the Donation Trust Fund. The target date for the next Paws in the Park event is February, 2018. The event is being moved to February so that it can be included in the Healthy Bucks program that is offered to Collier County employees. During the December Adoptathon, 74 animals were adopted: 41 cats. 32 dogs,one small animal. Ms. Lynch advised the Board that DAS will hold two Adoptathons, one on May 20th and 21° and the second one on December 9th and 10t. DAS will have special promotions in April, June. October and November. Throughout the rest of the year. adoption promotions for 2017 will occur on a sliding scale based on the shelter population. When the shelter reaches a specific number of cats, cat adoptions will be 50%off. When the cat population hits the second threshold, then cat adoptions will be free. It will work the same way for dogs. Marjorie Bloom made a motion to accept the Director's Report, there was a second and the motion passed 7-0. B. Elect Chair,Vice Chair and Secretary Marjorie Bloom made a motion to elect Jim Spartz as the Chair, there was a second and the motion passed 7-0. January 17.2017 James Seabasty made a motion to elect Marjorie Bloom as Vice Chair, there was a second and the motion passed 7-0. James Seabasty made a motion to elect Patrice Worcester as the Secretary, there was a second and the motion passed 7-0. VIII. Public Comment Tom Kepp explained to the Board that SNIP Collier declined to be promoted on the DAS website because the organization wants to remain focused on very low income residents. Michele Antonia spoke to the Board about the controlled access gate that is being installed at the county property in Immokalee. impacting the lmmokalee shelter. Kyra Lynch advised the Board that the gate was a decision made by the Facilities/Security' Department. She also advised the Board that DAS is still investigating the possibility of leasing property in downtown Immokalee and closing the current Immokalee Shelter. IX. Advisory Board Member Comments Marjorie Bloom stated that DAS is doing a great job getting cats and dogs adopted and out of the shelter. Patrice Worcester moved to adjourn. Motion received a second and was carried 7-0. The next regularly scheduled Advisory Board Meeting will be on Tuesday, March 21,at 6:30 in the Domestic Animal Training Room, Davis Blvd., Naples, Florida.
