Agenda 09/13/2016 R Item # 4C 4.0 09/13/2016 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Proclamation recognizing the Galleria Shoppes at Vanderbilt as the latest recipient of the Waste Reduction Awards Program (WRAP Award)for contributing to the greater good of Collier County by advocating the "Reduce,Reuse,Recycle" message and thereby helping to prolong the usable life of the Collier County Landfill. To be accepted by Mr. Andrew Johns, Property Manager and Mr. Mike Haupert,Leasing Manager. PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009-56, established the Waste Reduction Awards Program (the WRAP award); and, WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and multi-family residences for enhanced and innovative recycling programs; and, WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize Galleria Shoppes at Vanderbilt for contributing to the greater good of Collier County by advocating the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle"message thereby he/ping to prolong the usable life of the Collier County Landfill; and, WHEREAS, the Galleria Shoppes at Vanderbilt's recycling, reuse and source reduction program includes • reducing waste by providing four 6-cubic yard, one 8-cubic yard, and one 4-cubic yard single stream recycling dumpsters for 100 tenants to use daily for collecting their recyclables. • recycling printer ink cartridges by sending them back to manufacturer. • utilizing freestanding recycling collection containers at all temporary special events to collect beverage containers. • conserving energy by installing light timers with more efficient solar cells that only send power to lights when it is truly dark, and HVAC units designed for efficiency that require less energy than alternative setups. WHEREAS, the WRAP award program includes a plaque and space on the county's website showcasing eco-friendly business practices and recycling programs; and, WHEREAS, the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Division congratulates Mr. Andrew Johns, property manager, Mike Haupert, leasing manager, and the staff for successfully increasing recycling among the tenants, and leads by example for other leasing and property management businesses. Galleria Shoppes at Vanderbilt initiatives will have a significant effect on sustaining the usable life of the Collier County Landfill and protecting the environment.
