PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, on behalf of the residents of Collier County, the Board of Collier County
Commissioners would like to recognize Mackensie Alexander for his athletic prowess,
dedication to his family and service to our community; and,
WHEREAS, in 1980, Mackensie's parents, Jean and Marie Alexandre, left Haiti for a better
life, moving to Immokalee and picking oranges and tomatoes in the fields while
earning an overage of$50 a day; and,
WHEREAS, at age 10, Mackensie and his twin brother, Mackenro, joined them in the fields;
and,
WHEREAS, Mackensie knew that hard:wank would bufil.Fway out of the fields. He began
working hard on the.:foot ll field;;sta ding„ t an,the Immokalee High School
football field as l:defensi e'back, becoming oneof the nation's top recruits
following his::p rfOmnance:at the'U.S..Army MOt/ nal Combine in January 2012; and,
WHEREAS, Mackenslt=+cho a to attend Clemson University in SouttOarolina, where his speed
and talent: work ethic went noticed by his coaches,.,fellow players and
opponents and
