A motion was made to accept the agenda it was seconded and passed.
Approval of Minutes of Regular Meeting of April 11, 2016
A motion was made to approve the minutes of the April 11, 2016 meeting it was seconded and
approved.
REPORTS:
Chief's Report
Budget (Attached)
Chief Morris—The budget is attached and everything is on track with the current budget.
There were 23 firefighter line of duty deaths for 2016 and 4 for the month of April.

Awards, Recognitions&Certifications
Chief Morris—There have not been any awards, recognitions or certifications however Chief
McLaughlin and Chief Morris completed a 0305 course in order to be on the National Incident
Management Team. This team travels around the country to areas that have massive incidents
such as hurricanes or bombings and handle the situation for the local authorities in order to
restore control. It was a weeklong class which will probably not be offered again in this area
because it cost $31,000 Emergency Management obtained a grant in order to pay for the class.
OPERATIONS REPORT:
There were 63 incidents for the month of April 2016 one was out of the District it was a trailer
fire at Six L Farms there weren't any hydrants so we sent our Water Tender to assist with water
supply. There were no boat rescue calls for the month of April. There were a total of 19 calls
on 1-75; 14 vehicle accidents, 3 emergency medicals, 1 vehicle fire and 1 brush fire. Greater
Naples Fire & Rescue District did not send a Fire Inspection Report and there were no Fire
Investigations, however, Big Cypress National Preserve released information regarding the
Monroe Station Fire.
Tony Davis—He stated this was a photo stunt and that there were three people involved. One
person was on the roof of Monroe Station with a bottle that had a brillo pad inside soaked in
some sort of fuel then it was set on fire and he was swinging it over his head it causes some sort
of special effect while the person on the ground was taking pictures some of the sparks caught
the building on fire.
OLD BUSINESS
Flag Pole at Station 60(Not Yet Installed)
Chief Morris—We have the flag pole but it is not installed yet.
Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant for Fiscal Year 2016(processing reimbursement from DOF)
Chief Morris—The Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant packet will be mailed to Forestry in order to
obtain the reimbursement check of 50%of the costs.
Port of the Islands Hotel (In Lien Litigation)
Chief Morris—No news regarding the Port of the Islands Hotel.

Everglades City Advisory Committee Member Vacancy(Not Yet Filled)
Tony Davis—Since we haven't heard from Everglades City and they have not appointed a
committee member maybe we could take applications for the position.
Ron Gilbert—He would like to see someone on the board who is not from Port of the Islands.
A motion was made to take applications to fill the vacancy on the Ochopee Advisory Committee
whether or not we have a resident of Everglades City or not it was seconded and passed.
FDOT 2017 Budget Submitted to BCC(On BCC Agenda for 5-10-16)
Chief Morris—The FDOT Budget for 2017 has been submitted and will be on the BCC Agenda on
5-10-16.
Jean Kungle—She noticed on the BCC Agenda that the new FDOT Budget was called an
amendment and was wondering why that was the case.
Chief Morris—He stated that it is just a regular budget it is called an amendment because we
change it every year.
Aluminum Hose Bed Covers(Metal has been purchased but not yet installed)
Chief Morris—The metal came in last week for the hose bed covers so sometime this week they
will be working on that project.
NEW BUSINESS
Budget Amendment to Move$15,000 from Revenue to Ochopee Operating Budget
On BCC Agenda 5-10-16(Funds received due to the closing of the Fire Code Officials Office)
Chief Morris—There is a budget amendment of$15,000 that will be submitted to the Board of
County Commissioners on 5-10-16 to move funds from revenue to the operating budget. The
funds came from the closing of the Fire Code Officials Office. We are moving the money so that
we can use it.

Ochopee 2017 Budget Meeting with County Manager 5-11-16
Chief Morris-The Ochopee budget for 2017 has been completed and will be discussed at the
County Manager's Meeting on 5-11-16 then the budget will go before the BCC for their
approval.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Jean Kungle–She mentioned that there is going to be a Fire Commissioner meeting next
Tuesday regarding the merging of the North Naples Fire District and Greater Naples Fire
District. The North Naples Fire Chief just retired so this leaves an opening for a possible
merger.
