PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Collier County Recycling Ordinance Number 2009-56, established the Waste Reduction
Awards Program (the WRAP award); and,
WHEREAS, the WRAP award recognizes businesses, institutions, and multi-family residences for enhanced
and innovative recycling programs; and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is pleased to recognize the United States Postal Service for
contributing to the greater good of Collier County by advocating the 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle"
message thereby helping to prolong the usable life of the Collier County Landfill; and,
WHEREAS, the United States Postal Service's recycling, reuse and source reduction program includes
• Recycling 15,000 pounds of undeliverable paper, junk mail and magazines per day at the facility
located on Goodlette-Frank Road. The five other Collier County Postal Service locations generate
a total of 7,500 pounds per day.
• Recycling 2,350 pounds of cardboard collected per month at all six Postal Service locations in
Collier County.
WHEREAS, the WRAP award program includes a framed certificate, a plaque and space on the county's
website showcasing eco-friendly business practices and recycling programs; and,
WHEREAS, the Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Division congratulates Mr. Richard Barber,
Postmaster, and his staff for setting a positive example for other postal services. The United
States postal Service's initiatives will have a significant effect on sustaining the usable life of
the Collier County Landfill and protecting the environment.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County, Florida, that we
congratulate
UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE
