Department of Collier County Parks and Recreation January 1998 ,et coL4*,. EAST NAPLES COMMUNITY PARK Hundreds of Seniors attended the Senior Social on January 31st. '"" Parks iii Hockey season has started and over 39 teams are participating. Recreation "Expect Us To Be The Best" FRANK E. MACKLE,JR. COMMUNITY PARK The first of the free concert series at the park took place January 12th with the Gulf Coast Big Band. Approximately 600 people were in attendance. Friends of the Park sponsored the return of the Royal Lipizzan Stallions on the 25th and 26th of January as a major fund raiser for Mackie Park. 500 people were in attendance. GOLDEN GATE AQUATIC COMPLEX The Golden Gate Aquatic Complex had a total of 6 collegete swim teams practice at the facility over the Christmas/New Years break Teams form Principia College, Elsah,IL;Dennison Univer- sity,Granville,Ohio;University of Maine,Orono,Maine;Wheaton College,Wheaton Illinois;Grinnel College, Grinnell, Iowa; and Pipon College, Deppon, WI came down from "up north". Each team spent between? - 10 days practicing in sunny Collier County. GOLDEN GATE COMMUNITY CENTER On January 24th the Communiity Center sponsored the Cool Cruisers Car Show. The event was a huge success. 5,000 people attended the show. The Community Center sponsored a Youth Impact Night on Saturday,January 31st. This night was geared up to help keep kids off the streets. The event consisted of live bands, games, and much more. VETERANS COMMUNITY PARK The Roller Hockey Arena is more popular than ever! The roller hockey fall season playoffs have finished and a new league is beginning. During the month of January,900 Beach Parking Permits were issued.
