MINUTES FOR COLLIER COUNTY PARTICIPATION IN THE FLORIDA
FISH AND WILDLIFE CONSERVATION COMMISSION
INFORMATIONAL MEETING
Naples, Florida, March 7, 2016
LET IT BE REMEMBERED, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
convened a public informational meeting on this date at 4:00 PM at the Growth Management
Department Building, Room 609/61.0 2800 N. Horseshoe Drive, Naples, FL with the
following persons present:

Kim Dryden
Jim Valade
Ron Mesnick

COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: Deborah. Wight, Legislative Affairs Coordinator
Gary McAlpin, Manager, Coastal Zone Management
Summer Araque, Environmental Planner, Collier County
Chris D'Arco, Environmental Specialist, Coastal Zone Man.

1. Commencement
The meeting commenced at 4:00 pm.
Doug Finlay, City Council, City of Naples; William Moss, City Manager, City of Naples;Roger Reinke,
Assistant City Manager, City of Naples; Katie Laakkonen, Environmental Specialist, City of Naples; Bill
Quinsey, Code Enforcement Qfficer, City of Naples; Roger Jacobsen, Harbor Master, City of Naples
were also present.
2. Mission Statement
The purpose of the meeting was to gather public input on the potential need for changes to the existing
Manatee protection zones in Collier County.
3. Data and Map Presentation
The informational workshop was arranged by regions of the County including North Region, Central
Region, South Region and The Ten Thousand Islands.
The participants were invited to till out forms sharing their recommendations and concerns. The forms
were collected and the data will be compiled by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Committee
for review by the Local Rule Review Committee to be appointed by the Board of County
Commissioners on March 8,2016.
4. Conclusion
The Rule Review Board will compile a report for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission. On receipt,the FWC will review, respond and on consensus propose the rules. A draft
will be submitted to the FWC Committee for review at their September meeting which if approved will
be scheduled for a public hearing
There being no further business,the public meeting was adjourned at 6:00 PM.
