REPORTS:
Chief's Report
Budget (Attached)
Chief Morris—We are on schedule with the budget half of it has been used and we are half way
through the fiscal year so we are on track. We are in the process of preparing our budget for
next year. Right now everything is good with our budget and Station 63's budget. We are
moving forward with preparing the budget for the next fiscal year 2017.
Page 1
Chief Morris-The total so far is 18 for US Firefighter line of duty deaths for 2016 and there
have been 5 in the month of March.
Awards, Recognitions&Certifications
Chief Morris—We haven't really had any awards or recognitions. We have had some personnel
completing classes. Chief Morris will be attending the All Hazards Class at Collier Counties EOC.
It will be a weeklong class and it is for all emergency services personnel regarding handling
terrorist incidents.
OPERATIONS REPORT:
There were 86 calls for the month of March and 4 of them were outside the District.
There were two calls to Marco Island, one call to Vanderbilt Beach and one call to Caxambas
Pass. Two of the out of District calls were marine rescues.
Jeannie Kungle-She asked why Ochopee had to respond to those out of District Marine calls.
Chief Morris—The County has been plagued with boat issued. At this time Isles of Capri does
not have a boat so that means City of Naples would be the next to respond but they are having
boat problems. North Naples would be the next to respond but they have had boat problems
so that leaves Marco Island and Ochopee running the boat calls for Collier County. Because of
the distance dispatch will cancel Rescue Boat 60 if we are not needed or sometimes they just
put us on standby responding only if necessary.
Chief Morris-There were a total of 31 incidents on 1-75; 19 vehicle accidents,9 emergency
medicals, 2 vehicle fires and 1 brush fire.
Chief Morris—As far as he knows there were no fire inspections reported or fire investigations.
OLD BUSINESS
Working on I-75 Station Internet Scheduled for January(Internet for 63 on line)
Chief Morris—We now have internet at the 1-75 Fire Station. The County and the Sheriff's
Department have been out to the station tying up some lose ends but the Internet itself is up
and running.
Flag Pole at Station 60 (Delivered)
Chief Morris--The flag pole was finally delivered now we are ready to install it at station 60.

Chief Morris—All of the bunker gear has been ordered and the invoice has been paid.
Hold Harmless Agreement(disbursement of funds)
Chief Morris—He thinks they are waiting on one of the District's before the funds can be
dispersed.
Port of the Islands Hotel (In Lien Litigation)
Tony Davis—He has not heard anything. He has a CID meeting Friday Dan Cox is supposed to
be at the meeting maybe he will have some news regarding the hotel.
Everglades City Advisory Committee Member Vacancy
No news regarding a representative from Everglades City for the Advisory Committee.
New Computers for Chief 60&62(returned &received new tablets)
Chief Morris—The tablets were sent with the wrong operating system windows 10 was
installed on the devices and the new locution system operates with windows 7. The program
could not be changed on the tablets they had to be sent back and new devices were sent with
the correct operating system as originally ordered.
Radios 100%compliant for new dispatch system
Chief Morris—The last old style radios were at Station 63 and they have been replaced with
compliant equipment.
NEW BUSINESS

Aluminum Hose Bed Covers
Chief Morris—Some of our vehicles have canvas hose bed covers and they deteriorate over
time. We have replaced the canvas covers at least four times. The aluminum hose bed covers
will last a lot longer therefore reducing the Department's replacement costs. In order to keep
expenses down Ochopee Fire Personnel will do the installation of the aluminum hose bed
covers.
Tony Davis—Once the merger comes about will we be able to continue to do these projects
with our own personnel doing the labor?
Chief Morris—I don't know we will just have to wait and see.
Tony Davis—The personnel doing the labor on some of these projects saves the Department a
lot of money.
Chief Morris—Yes it does.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
ADJOUNMENT
