PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, The Holocaust Museum 4 Education Center of Southwest Florida teaches the
lessons of the Holocaust to inspire action against bigotry, violence and hatred, and
preserves the personal stories of the Holocaust survivors and camp liberators for
future generations; and,
WHEREAS, since their founding in 2001, the education programs of The Holocaust Museum d
Education Center of Southwest Florida have reached more than 145,000 students
in kindergarten through university in six Southwest Florida counties; and,
WHEREAS, Jack and F.E. Nortman and the Nortman family generously loaned the iconic
railway boxcar for the Museum's Boxcar Project, which, since 2008, has impacted
nearly 100,000 students, parents and community members in more than 90
locations in Southwest Florida; and,
WHEREAS, at its Our Triumph 15th Anniversary Celebration on April 13, 2016, The Holocaust
Museum d Education Center of Southwest Florida will honor the Nortman Family for
their generous loan; and,
WHEREAS, The Holocaust Museum d Education Center of Southwest Florida has used the
boxcar among its many other exhibits and programs to encourage all to act
respectfully towards others, and to demonstrate that one person can make a
difference, whatever their circumstances, to positively impact their communities
and the larger world; and,
WHEREAS, The Collier County Board of County Commissioners would like to honor The
Holocaust Museum d Education Center of Southwest Florida for its work in
Southwest Florida and beyond.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed that the Collier County Board of County Commissioners
recognizes The Holocaust Museum 4 Education Center of Southwest Florida's 15 years of
service to students, educators, community members and visitors in Southwest Florida.
