1) Compass Construction, Inc.was originally awarded a work order for the conversion of the East Naples Community Park Skate Park
to Pickleball Courts. The County approved a three (3) year hosting agreement with Spirit Promotions to hold the 2016-18 US Open
Championships to be held April 2016 which will attract more than 1,000 participants,spectators,and overnight visitors. The Pickleball
tournament promoters (Spirit Promotions) have commited to resurfacing at !east one tennis court as the stadium court at their own
expense. There are six(6)additional tennis courts located at the ENCP site that are currently being used as(18)temporary Pickleball
Courts. Staff have reviewed the temporary courts and determined that they may be converted to twelve (12) permanent Pickleball
courts and (2)permanent tennis courts and(6)temporary Pickleball courts which would address the need for additional court space for
the US Open Championship events, and provide additional courts to meet the increased public demand throughout the year, The
current contractor who provided the lowest quote on the original work order provided a price of$291,067 for this change and staff
negotiated an additional$41,069 in savings for this work,
2)This change was not included in the original contract because the conversion of 6 tennis courts to 18 Pickleball Courts was not part
of the original Championship plan.The plan involved converting the Skate Park to 12 Pickleball courts and Spirit Promotions is
providing a stadium court and bleachers for the event.Since the demand for Pickleball use at the current location Is escalating,
converting the courts now will add to the venue for US Open Pickeball Championship and allow Parks&Recreation to address the i
needs of the growing sport.The court conversion was scheduled in the FY17 budget,however,priorities have changed.
3) If the change is not processed the demands for permanent Picklball Courts for the public at ENCP will not be addressed and the US
Open event will not have the additional championship level courts to play on. Additionally,time does not permit staff to solicit quotes
from the pool of available contractors to meet this need prior to the US Open Pickleball Championship.

This proposal is based upon your email dated 1/15/16 which contained aerial court layout and post and net details.
