Mr. Randy Davis , Director of the City of Naples Recreation Department
was at the meeting to speak to the PARAB about the possibilities of
the City and County joining their efforts and resources to rejuvenate
Gulfview Middle School ballfield which is located on school property
in the City limits . This ballfield could be used by the adult
and youth softball teams . Mr . Davis stated the City Parks Department
is limited in park space and this is a possible solution. Maintenance
and scheduling responsibilities would have to be decided upon by
both Departments . The PARAB told Mr . Davis no recommendations are
being made by the Board to build any new construction on school
property. The PARAB sympathized with the City ' s lack of recreation
facilities , but the County is having the same problem. However,
the PARAB will take this offer under advisement and let the City
Parks Department know of their decision.
DISCUSSION AND DECISION ON BALLFIELD CONSTRUCTION AT TOMMIE BARFIELD
Chairman Blunt directed the secretary to draft a letter to Mr.
Scuderi in reference to his request for the County to build an
additional ballfield for Little League . This letter should state
that at this time the PARAB would not recommend to the BCC the
construction of this ballfield.

presented to the PARAB the three alternatives Mr. Quinby outline
for the School Board: 1 . Refuse the swap 2. Approve the swap
3 . Reduce the size of the swap from 23 acres to 9 acres . After
some discussion, it was decided by the PARAB that an area such as
Immokalee needs a community park. A commonity park can only be
achieved by utilizing the 23 acres adjacent to the Immokalee High
School . If the size of the park was reduced to 9 acres , the
1 community center and pool facilities would have to be eliminated.
Chairman Blunt instructed the secretary to wrtie a letter to
Mr. Quinby stating the above and to urge the School Board to make .
a decision on the land swap as soon as possible .
