PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE
August 15, 1973
On August 15, 1973 the Collier County Parks and
REcreation Board met in the Collier County Courthouse.
The meeting was called to order by the Vice Chairman,
Steve Smith, at 7:15 P.M.
The Secretary read the minutes of the previous
meeting and they were approved as read.
Dan Breeden reported that the one bid submitted for
the lighting of the Seagate and Barfield Fields was not accepted.
It was for $48,000 and the amount in escrow for the whole budget
is $53,000.
suggested
Steve Smith/that the fields be built without lights.
Steve moved that the committee recommend that we buy fully
creasoted poles and lights at the most economical price, and
have the fields constructed. The motion was seconded by
Elton Townsend and passed unanimously.
Mr. Ben Driver requested that the board list in the
order of priority the items on the five (5) year Capital Improve-
ment Program.
They are as follows:
1) Acquisition of boat ramps sites with attending
facilities.
2) Full development of Marco Beach Park.

3) Bike Paths
4) Acquisition of 20 acres or more in various areas
for parks
5) Build a 60 x 80 swimming pool in Golden Gate
6) Lake Trafford - acquisition and development of park
7) Acquisition of county owned and operated golf course
8) Construction of County Recreation Building with office
space.
The next meeting will be on September 19th at 7:30 P.M.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:19 P.M.
