Page 3 NEW BUSINESS Port of the Islands Hotel Chief McLaughlin—We are in contact with the new owners of the Port of the Islands Hotel there have been meetings and examinations of the building for training purposes by several County Departments. The owners have been notified in writing as to what is needed in order to use the building as a training facility. The asbestos will be removed prior to using the building for training which will have to be done anyway before the building is partially demolished. The owner plans to demolish the two story wing section and everything from the bar over. They are going to keep the pool and the main section then restore the building completely to its original condition. The owner feels it has more value as a historical restoration. We are not going to burn down the building but we will be doing some training like cutting roofs, smoke drills and swat wants to use it. Finally something positive is going to be done with the building.
