system at the 1-75 Fire Station. Their hardware will be installed at the site to get the internet up
and running in January.

completed.
Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant for Fiscal Year 2016 Passed
Chief McLaughlin—The Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant for urban interface clothing was passed
by the Board of County Commissioners and a budget will be set up for it probably sometime
after the holidays so we should be able to purchase in January. As long as we have volunteers
we qualify for this 50/50 grant.
Hold Harmless Agreement Passed
Chief McLaughlin—The Hold Harmless Agreement was passed by the Board of County
Commissioners. This agreement was in regards to the Fire Code Officials Office and the equity
each Fire Department had in it. This agreement allows Greater Naples Fire Rescue District to
give Ochopee Fire Control District their share of the equity in the Fire Code Officials Office
which comes to around $11,000.00.
District 1 Service Agreement
Chief McLaughlin—The District I Service Agreement was passed by the Board of County
Commissioners. In that agreement it states that Ochopee Fire Control District must be kept
whole with the District I monies and the rest was supposed to be given to Greater Naples Fire
Rescue District. The County however instead remained the distributor of the District I funds
giving each District its usual payment until such time Greater Naples Fire Rescue District annex's
the District I land. As long as the MSTU is in affect we will continue to receive the same amount
of dollars at the same percentage.

NEW BUSINESS
Port of the Islands Hotel
Chief McLaughlin—We are in contact with the new owners of the Port of the Islands Hotel
there have been meetings and examinations of the building for training purposes by several
County Departments. The owners have been notified in writing as to what is needed in order to
use the building as a training facility. The asbestos will be removed prior to using the building
for training which will have to be done anyway before the building is partially demolished.
The owner plans to demolish the two story wing section and everything from the bar over.
They are going to keep the pool and the main section then restore the building completely to its
original condition. The owner feels it has more value as a historical restoration. We are not
going to burn down the building but we will be doing some training like cutting roofs, smoke
drills and swat wants to use it. Finally something positive is going to be done with the building.
E-Mail Regarding the Board of County Commissioners rejection of the re-appointment of
McBeth Collins to the Ochopee Advisory Committee
Chief McLaughlin—The Board of County Commissioners did not re-appoint McBeth Collins to
the Ochopee Advisory Committee based on the Advisory Committee's recommendation the
Mayor has been informed that he needs to appoint someone else to the Ochopee Advisory
Committee.
