WI [EREAS. the National Tropical Storm ('cntcr has recognized the danger to coastal
residents of Southwest Florida from Hurricane Georges by posting a Hurricane Watch for Collier
County; and
WHEREAS. Ilurricane Georges has the p,qcfmal tbr causifi~2 extensivc damage to public
utilities, public building, public communications systems, public streets and roads, public
drainage systems, commercial and residential buildings and areas; and
WHEREAS. Chapter 252.38(3)(a)(Sh Florida Statutes. provides authority for a political
subdivision such as Collier County to declare a "State of kocal Emergency" and to waive certain
