Meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m.
Dr.Joseph Neiween led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Secretary Jerry Sanford Chaired the meeting as the Chairman and Vice Chairman
were excused.
A quorum was present.
A motion was made by Reg Buxton to accept the previous minutes. The motion
was seconded by Russ Rainey.
Mike Shaw reported that CCSO Sgt. Jose Carritto and Al Goodall from the Red
Cross are now members of the Citizen Corp.
Threat Update. CCSO rep Jose Carrillo reports that there are no local threats at
this time. A large drug raid was just conducted by the CCSO resulting in many
arrests.

New Business . Mike Shaw asked that all of the Citizen Corp members to either
call or e-mail him regarding an excused absence. All members must attend at
least 50%of the yearly meetings. Our attendance is monitored by the County.
Mike Shaw also presented the Hazard Identification Risk Assessment Plan to the
group for discussion and feedback.All members looked over the document and
voted. Motion to approve by Reg Buxton, seconded by Russ Rainey. All voted
in favor for approval.
Hurricane Season:Rick Zyvoloski reports that it is an average Hurricane Season.
We have just reached the midpoint of the season and we must still keep our
guard up.The North Collier Cert team was activated for Tropical storm Erika.
The EOC was activated for tropical Storm Erika.
Training& Exercise Update.
Mike Shaw reports that on November 4th the Training and Exercise group will
meet. ICS 300 will be offered at the EOC from November 30th to December 1St,
2015.
Individual Reports
Dr. Neiween reported that next month (October) is the beginning of the flu
season and recommends that all citizens get vaccinated. It takes 2 weeks to get
the antibodies up. The more people get vaccinated, the least likely to spread.
Around 38,000 people die in the United States from the flu.
Reg Buxton reports that Mr. John Cox from the Chamber of Commerce has
resigned with no new replacement at this time.
Jerry Sanford reports that he was unable to put together a 9-11 ceremony this
year in the county. It is the 14th anniversary of the attacks on our country. The
Freedom Memorial Construction phase is moving according to the County
schedule with a meeting planned with the County and the Quarry
representative next month. (October).
Justin McElwee reports that the Red Cross as part of their Smoke Alarm
Education Program has recently installed over 60 smoke detectors in the Bay
Shore apartment complex with the goal of installing over 1,000 detectors in the
Red Cross Chapter area by July 2016.
Mike Shaw read an organization report from Chairman Walt Jaskiewicz of the
Coast Guard Auxiliary that stated that the Auxiliary Mass Response Team
AMROS participated in Black Swan #2 in Honolulu Hawaii in August supporting
the USCG on the Marshall Islands with a disaster response drill along with the
Department of Defense, foreign governments and private entity partners.
On September 29th, the AMROS Team will support the USCG in a disaster drill in
Charleston, South Carolina.
The USCG Auxiliary 7th District Staff is drafting an EOC Response Staff Position
presentation for Flotilla Commanders to enhance their EOC Response resources.
The next meeting is scheduled for November 18, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
