MINUTES
I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 4:30PM by Chairman Spencer. Attendance was called and a quorum
was established.

III. Approval of Agenda
Move: Item IX Old Business to V; Delete Item V, County Maintained Landscape
Item VIII.B-Maintenance Reports to Item VI
Ms. Spencer motioned to approve the Agenda as amended. Second by Ms. Harris. Carried
unanimously 3—0.
IV. Approval of Minutes: July 21,2015
Ms. Williams moved to approve the minutes of the July 21, 2015 meeting as presented. Second by Ms.
Harris. Carried unanimously 3—0.

V. Old Business
a. Mike McGee revisited projects on the east end of Golden Gate
Mr. McGee provided updates and the Committee discussed two projects with the following
noted:
Golden Gate Parkway
• Improvements to the grass area at the intersection of Santa Barbara Blvd. are still in the
planning stages.
• If the chain link fence is to be removed in the area of the pedestrian bridge, some type of
"barrier"will need to remain in the area for safety purposes.
Collier Blvd. Improvements
Staff noted the medians are under the control of the Growth Management Department; however
the Committee may make recommendations on the type of landscaping to be installed.
VI. Landscape Architects Report
A. Maintenance Reports
Mr.McGee submitted the monthly field reports and the"Well Annual Water Use for 2015"which
outlines the water usage for each area shown below. The following was noted during his report:
• Tropicana Boulevard—Report#Eleven—FY14— 15
The dry turf and high water usage on Tropicana Blvd. needs to be addressed.
• Coronado Parkway and Hunter Boulevard-Report#Eleven—FY14— 15
He will provide the County with a cost estimate for plant replacement on Coronado Pkwy
and Hunter Blvd. The expenditure must be approved prior to installation of any plants.
• Golden Gate Parkway -Report#Six—FY14— 15
The plans for landscape improvements to the medians on Golden Gate Pkwy include
potential sod and plant replacement. Five medians are complete to date. The Committee
requested updated photographs for the next meeting. The water meter on the eastern pump is
broken and repair is the responsibility of the County. Comments on this issue can be
removed from future reports.
• Sunshine Boulevard -Report#Eleven—FY14— 15
Turf area is stressed and may require sod replacement.
• Collier Blvd. and Green Blvd. -Report#Eleven—FY14— 15
Mr. McGee is inventorying the dead or dying plants in median;however the plants at the
intersection will be removed in conjunction with the Collier Blvd. transportation
improvement project.
The remaining medians are not within the MSTU's boundary but the Committee could
request an amendment to the boundary if they so desire.
VII. Project Manager's Report
A. Monthly Budget Report
Mr. Sells provided the document"Golden Gate MSTU Fund 153—August 18, 2015"for
information purposes and provided an overview on the financial status of the Fund noting:
A balance of$70K is left for operating expenses for the year.

B. Sunshine Blvd.Lights and Flag Pole Replacement
Lights: The $11,700 allocated in the budget to replace the lights will be billed for payment in 2016
and not charged to the 2015 budget.
Flag Pole: One quote for$32,000 has been received and Staff is ascertaining additional quotes for
the work.
C. Light Repair on Tropicana Blvd. (Hart Electric fixed)
The light project on the South end of Tropicana Blvd. is complete. The cost of the repair is $1,450
including replacement of bulbs, glass globes and electric eye sensors.
D. Letter of appreciation for Daryl Richard
The Committee signed a letter of appreciation for Daryl Richard,the MSTU's former Project
Manager.
E. Tropicana Blvd. FPL Light Poles
Staff reported they are awaiting quotes for the work.
VIII. Transportation Maintenance Report—Hannula Landscaping
Ms. Acevedo provided the following maintenance reports for information purposes noting:
• Tropicana Boulevard
The irrigation water supply was increased to counter act dying sod and the sod is also being
treated in an attempt to save the grass. Staff will provide proposals for replacement of the sod if
the measures are not effective. Other proposals to be submitted include replacement of thirteen
plants and root system work.
• Coronado Parkway and Hunter Boulevard
The Committee questioned the schedule for manicuring of plants on Coronado Parkway and she
reported the plants are pruned weekly. The area is being treated for weeds including spraying in
the morning hours to increase effectiveness due to late day rain conditions. Landscape mulch is
scheduled to be placed in the future and the Crown of Thorns will be planted in the fall when
they become available.
• Sunshine Boulevard
The landscaper is waiting for approval to replace turf.
• Collier Boulevard & Green Boulevard
None
IX. New Business
• New Applicants Ron Jefferson and Herman "Skip" Haeger
Mr. Sells provided Mr. Jefferson's and Mr. Haeger's applications for appointment to the MSTU.
Ms. Spencer moved to recommend the Board of County Commissioners appoint Ron Jefferson
and Herman "Skip"Haeger to the Golden Gate MSTU Committee. Second by Ms. Harris.
Carried unanimously 3—0.
There being no further business to come before the Committee, the meeting was adjourned by the Chair
at 5:20 P.M.
