PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida proudly introduces the Eva Sugden
Gomez Environmental Planning Center and Sustainability Plaza, the new
headquarters for the Conservancy, designed to increase visibility and raise
awareness of the importance of protecting the water, land, and wildlife in the
region; and
WHEREAS, we celebrate the completion of the final phase of construction and renovation
of new sustainable buildings at the Conservancy Nature Center transforming
the 2.1-acre campus into the premier Nature Center in the southeastern
United States; and
WHEREAS, on April 19th, 2014, the Conservancy of Southwest Florida hosts its 50th
Anniversary Earth Day Celebration at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida
Nature Center, designed to celebrate the past and shape the future; and
WHEREAS, the community is invited to attend the 50h Anniversary Earth Day Festival on
April 19 and experience the Nature Center, as well as the special exhibits,
educational programs, speakers, food and music, and to discover the past,
present and future of southwest Florida's unique environment through the
Conservancy of Southwest Florida visitor experience; and
WHEREAS, we express our gratitude to Eva Sugden Gomez, the generous donors,
businesses, community organizations, the media and the public for supporting
the Conservancy of Southwest Florida over the past 50 years.
NOW THEREFORE, be it proclaimed by the Board of County Commissioners of Collier County,
Florida, that April 17, 2014 be designated as
CONSERVANCY OF SOUTHWEST FLORIDA EVA SUDDEN GOMEZ ENVIRONMENTAL
PLANNING CENTER AND SUSTAINABILITY PLAZA AND
50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION DAY
DONE AND ORDERED THIS 8TH Day of April, 2014.
