PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
Naples, Florida, June 18, 2014
LET IT BE REMEMBERED, that the Collier County Parks and Recreation
Advisory Board, in and for the County of Collier, having conducted business
herein, met on this date at 2:00 P.M. in a NON-WORKING SESSION at
North Collier Regional Park, Administration Building, Conference Room A,
15000 Livingston Road, Naples, Florida, with the following members
present:

Call to Order
Chairman Olesky called the meeting to order at 2:10 P.M.
A quorum was not established. Three (3) voting members were present.
II. Pledge of Allegiance and Invocation
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Invocation was held.
III. Approval of Agenda
(None)
IV. Approval of May 21,2014 Minutes
(None)
V. Staff Highlights
A. Employee of the Month—April and May
Jeanine McPherson-Hogle introduced David Merino as the June "Employee of
the Month." He was recognized for going above and beyond his
responsibilities. He was presented the "Employee of the Month"award.
B. Marketing Report
Peg Ruby distributed The Marketing Report, June 2014. (See attached)
She reported the following upcoming events:
• Sugden Regional Park 4th of July Celebration& Ice Cream Social—July 4
• Fireworks will begin at 9:15 P.M.
• Fall Registration begins August 1St
• Back to School Bash at Sun-N-Fun Lagoon—August 23`d
She reported the following statistics:
• Program Registration has increased by over 10%.
• Online Registration has increased by over 20%.
• Summer Camp Registration has increased by 20%.
VI. New Business
A. INTERVIEW WITH PATRICIA SHERRY—APPLICANT
Item will be addressed at next meeting.
B. NCH SAFE & HEALTHY CHILDREN'S COALITION OF COLLIER
COUNTY
Paula Digrigoli, NCH Executive Director—Safe & Healthy Children's
Coalition of Collier County distributed the NCH Safe &Healthy Children's
Coalition 2013 Annual Report and Water Smart Babies in Collier County.
She briefly reviewed the 2013 Annual Report:

➢ Fitness &Nutrition Programs for children

➢ Kids Don't Float Life Jacket Program partnership
C. QR CODE SIGNAGE
Detective Rapisarda and Judi Evans, Sheriffs Office distributed"Keep Our
Children Safe" flyer with a QR Code to scan on a smart phone to access a
database of Collier County sexual predators. Sheriff's Office partnered with the
Library and Parks and Recreation to "Keep Our Children Safe." They plan to
start posting flyers in North Regional and Sugden Regional Parks, and gradually
post flyers in all County Parks.
It was noted the Library has posted the flyer at all their locations.
D. CAPITAL PROJECTS UPDATE—FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
Jeanine McPherson-Hogle gave an update status:
➢ Eagles Lakes Community Center is scheduled for a January completion
date.
➢ Gordon River Greenway moving along. Staff provided a draft plaque with
PARAB Members Names for Board Members to proof read and initial if
spelling is correct.
A discussion was made on the plaque with Board Members name and the
number of plaques to be installed. A consensus was formed to add John
Ribes name to the three (3)plaques to be installed at the three (3)
entrances.
Ellie Krier, President—EK Consulting Inc. reported on Gordon River
Greenway :
➢ A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held the morning of October 9, 2014.
➢ A four(4) day event is being planned; starting on Thursday, October 9th
➢ Currently hosting a Monument Sign design contest.
➢ Bikers and runners have expressed interest in holding competitions at the
ribbon cutting event.
She expressed concerns over the kayak fees. Kayak fee has already been
approved by the BCC.
It was noted the playground equipment costs for the park were not included in
project overall budget. Jeanine McPherson-Hogle stated the playground
equipment has not been ordered. She indicated there was funding set aside for the
equipment. Plans are to have equipment installed before the grand opening.
VII. Old Business
A. Adopt a Park Assignments
(None)
Vice Chairman Brougham asked for an update on the 951 Paddle Boat Park
regarding weeds in the gravel, sidewalks and the pavers.
Rick Garby responded the weeds are treated every two (2) weeks.

Jeanine McPherson-Hogle reported:
• For Summer Camp, participants can register for the season or weekly.
• 80% of registrations are for the entire summer at all park locations
• The Fee Policy was approved by the BCC.
• The Immokalee Putt-Putt course has met with great response.
• The Putt-Putt course was installed on tennis courts.
• The course needs to be installed on a concrete slab.
• No meeting in July.
• Pickle Ball Courts will be installed at Vineyards.
• Multi Use Pickle Ball/Tennis Courts are now available at Veteran's Park.
