Which lakes have the highest levels? Which associations are the major offenders? (4) Explore options with the Foundation for enforcement of fertilizer BMP. Mid Term (201415) (1) Expand pilot program, if successful, to all basins. (2) With Foundation, implement fertilizer BMP enforcement. If necessary, remove copper from lakes. The best regulatory scenario would be that, with controlled fertilizer use and with little or no additional copper fungicide pumped into the lakes, the existing copper in Clam Bay would be flushed out to sea and Clam Bay would meet the copper standard in 45 years. If not, copper removal from the lakes may be necessary. Even with Clam Bay compliance, copper removal from the lakes may be justified to reduce long- term risk. April 17, 2013 Landscape Water Management Subcommittee of the Pelican Bay Services Division Board PILOT PROJECT — FIVE LAKES IN BASIN 3 • Separate the variables Example: Pond 1— Aeration Pond 2 — Littoral plantings Pond 3 — Aeration + littoral plantings Pond 4 — Bacteria + aeration Pond 5 — Bacteria + aeration + littoral plantings This assumes bacterial treatment cannot stand alone because it needs aeration to prevent the bacteria from going anaerobic (less active against nutrients). Need baseline N, P, CU01) numbers and ponds free of surface algae before pilot projects begin 4 April 17, 2013 Landscape Water Management Subcommittee of the Pelican Bay Services Division Board LAKE AND BAY SAMPLING AND TESTING • Need sampling /testing in Upper Clam Bay Inner Clam Bay Outer Clam Bay including sites where previous samples were taken. • Need continued (shoreline) sampling /testing for N, P, Cu(II) in the 42 ponds where previous samples were taken. Utilize current data base. Also need center -of -lake sampling /testing in 45 selective lakes for comparison with shoreline testing. • Need sediment testing in center and at previous shoreline sites of 4-5 selective lakes. - Depth of water and sediment in centers of 4-5 selective lakes - Cu(II) from water and sediments in centers and at previous shoreline sites in the same 4-5 selective lakes 5 April 17, 2013 Landscape Water Management Subcommittee of the Pelican Bay Services Division Board Y171# RECYCLED WATER FOR IRRIGATION Recycled Water R-- ange .
