RE: Radio Road and Devonshire Monthly Maintenance Report
MSTU Committee and Staff:
The following is a report of the general conditions and recommendations for the
maintenance of the Radio Road MSTU areas on Radio Road and Devonshire Blvd.
DEVONSHIRE:
In general the medians and ROW areas look healthy and well maintained with the
following action items:
• The majority of the Asian Jasmine has thatched together fairly tightly with the
exception of the few bare patches in the West ROW area between the
maintenance service pad and Santa Barbara. Although we have had an ongoing
dialogue concerning the maintenance challenges with the Asian Jasmine and
possible sod replacement, the Asian Jasmine looks better at this time than it has
since the completion of the landscape project. One other area of concern is a
patch of Nut Sedge in the center portion of the east ROW. This is by far the
exception to the rest of the east ROW which is largely full and healthy.
• CLM is continuing with a regimen of Basagran herbicide for the nut sedge and
Fulsiade for the Torpedo Grass and other grassy weeds. They are additionally
applying preemergent herbicides to combat new weed growth. They need to
continue to hand pull the larger weeds even if they are beginning to yellow from
the herbicides due to being unsightly and unkempt in appearance.
• In an effort to continue the momentum with the health and vigor of the Jasmine, I
recommend planting additional Asian Jasmine (10" oc) to fill in the remaining
gaps along the west ROW. CLM needs to mulch the new plants to assist with
establishment and limit weed proliferation.
• CLM is to continue to monitor irrigation coverage and report programming needs
or malfunctions to Roger, Harry and WSI.

• At the committee's request, Harry and I are in discussions with CLM and various
irrigation manufacturers to evaluate alternative MSTU independent controllers for
Devonshire and will report back to the committee once all is compiled and to
make recommendations.
• In general, the Lantana look bad with the exception of Santa Barbara and Radio
Road median tips. The plants elsewhere in most of the medians are either dead,
woody or the foliage is dry and browned out. These plants need to be replaced
and then kept trimmed tighter and carefully monitored.
• GENERAL: Remove burlap from several of the Cabbage Palms from the original
staking. STILL NEEDS TO BE COMPLETED.
• CLM top trimmed the front half of the Clusia hedge from Belville to Santa Barbara
and now needs to trim the back half.
RADIO ROAD:
In general the medians look healthy and well maintained with the following action items:
• GENERAL: Clean up and remove dead fronds from medians
• GENERAL-Trim Jatropha and raise canopies.
• GENERAL: Remove seed pods from Foxtails.
• GENERAL: Let the Hamelia grow a bit to allow it to bloom. Cutting so tightly that
the flowers are never enjoyed.
• GENERAL—Sod is dry in all medians. Evaluate irrigation needs now that rain
has stopped for the season.
• GENERAL: Dianella are in general thin, and inconsistent from plant-to-plant with
some dead, some with fungus and generally unhealthy appearance.
• Median 1 — Replace +/- 20 dead Little Red Euphorbia
• Median 18 - +/- 6 Juniper browning out
• Median 23—6-8 Green Island Ficus crushed in accident and need replaced.
• Median 13—A few of the Foxtail Palms are still a bit chlorotic.
The following replacements were noted and should be put in the rotation if and when
directed and authorized by Pam Lulich:
• Median 21 - Replace 3 yellow Tabebuia with Natchez Crepe Myrtle.
• Add /fill in 3 Muhly Grass east of Livingston in median 14.
• In general, keep working towards replacement of all Dinnis with Dianella moving
forward as they decline
Please email or call me if you have any questions.
