Minutes 06/05/2008 ISLES OF CAPRI FIRE/RESCUE ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES JUNE 5, 2008 ISLES OF CAPRI FIRE STATION ATTENDEES: Emilio Rodriguez,Fire Chief Kirk Colvin, Chairman Bill Rafeldt,Advisory Board Member Joseph Langkawel,Advisory Board Member Ted Decker,Advisory Board Member Barbara Shea,Minutes Preparer I. CALL TO ORDER Kirk Colvin opened the meeting at 6:35 p.m. II. OLD BUSINESS A. Chiefs Report 1. Chief led strike team to Brevard County brush fire. a. 50 homes lost. b. 5 vehicles taken with strike team. c. Firefighting assistance lasted 7 days. 2. ICFD provided assistance on Golden Gate brush fire. a. 3 homes lost. b. Significant damage to other homes,vehicles &boats. 3. Canoe Races resulted in 10 ICFD medical boat calls. a. Sheriffs Dept. provided a swat team on Keewaydin Island. b. Approximately 5000 people attended. B. May 2008 Advisory Board Meeting Minutes 1. Copy of Minutes distributed. 2. Minutes approved by all Advisory Board Members. 3. Kirk Colvin approved and signed May 2008 Minutes. C. Update from the Steering Committee Meeting 1. Chief Rodriguez&Joe Langkawel were unable to attend recent meeting. 2. Merger studies still continuing. D. Budget Report 1. Presentation of ICFD budget to BCC on June 19/20. 2. No major changes to the budget have been made recently to report. E. Update on status of administrative assistant position reclass: 1. Chief Rodriguez met with Don Albonesi, HR,to discuss the CPQ. 2. Don Albonesi will complete a full study on the current position. 3. Don Albonesi will make a recommendation on a proper classification. 4. Chief Rodriguez felt the meeting was very positive&productive. III. NEW BUSINESS A. Letters to Advisory Board members from Tom Henning of the BCC. 1. Reminder to stay within the powers &duties assigned to the committee. 2. This issue was discussed at 05/13/08 BCC meeting. 3. This stems from"an issue"with the Environmental Advisory Committee. B. New 2008 Hurricane pamphlets are available at Station 90 for our residents. 1. Some of the pamphlets will be delivered to the Capri Civic Association. 2. Kirk will notify local residents of the pamphlets availability by email. C. New Emergency Operations building scheduled to open December 2008. 1. Emergency Mgt, Sheriff's Dept. substation, &EMS to relocate here. 2. New Dispatch Center to reside here. 3. Located near Edison Community College on 951. IV.
