We,the Residents of the Vanderbilt Drive Corridor(North Bay)support the following Safety Improvements in our neighborhood.
We respectively request the Collier County Board of Commissioners to consider and approve these because of great
neighborhood interest and support.
1.An 8 foot asphalt pathway on the west side of Vanderbilt Drive.
2.There are 25 separate neighborhood entrances, which create a conflict with vehicles who may not see the pedestrians&bicyclists
as they use the pathway. We urge the County to look at providing safer entrances/exits to each development.
3.A consistent 40 MPH speed limit on Vanderbilt Drive from Bonita Beach Road to 111th Avenue. However, today we would leave
the 35 MPH speed limit in place south of the Cocohatchee River bridge until the County upgrades the (2) old bridges and adds 5
foot bike shoulders.
4. Bike lanes(5 foot shoulders)south of the Cocohatchee River bridge. (MPO Funding requested)
5.Other Safety Improvements to be considered:low level lighting on pathway, traffic calming features such as(2)crosswalks,safety
islands or medians, and a turn lane onto to 8th Street (where Royal Scoop is). This is a local, neighborhood road which should be
made safer for the residents. We certainly do not support any future consideration for widening Vanderbilt Drive to 4 Lanes.

Memorandum
April 2,2014
Board of County Commissioners
County of Collier
3299 Tamiami Trail East, Suite 303
Naples,Florida 34112—5746
Through: Ron D.Jamro,Director
Collier County Museums
From: Edward C. Smith,Agent for the Rogers family
Subject: A donation to Collier County of a revenue-producing and historic cottage to
the Collier County Museum to be moved to the Museum and renovated at no public cost
and a new privately funded scholarship to be awarded by the County.
Summary
Acceptance is requested by the County of a donated cottage which had served as an art
studio and contents including original art works, artifacts, and geological specimens to be
moved to the County Museum as a permanent asset-there to be renovated, equipped, and
made available for public use at no cost to the County. In addition, donations and new
revenue will fund a new scholarship award and further support the Museum.
Details
The art studio of E. George Rogers, community activist from 1952 and avid artist,
remains intact but the property has been sold and some disposition must be made of the
building and contents which includes original art works, Caloosa Indian artifacts, and
geological specimens. Alternatively this historic cottage will be demolished and the
contents will remain in private hands. Here,in this small art studio,is preserved the spirit
of the tiny Naples of the postwar 1950's where residents knew each other as friends and
from which friendships came the Naples Art Association, the Naples Historical Society,
the Collier County Mental Health Association, and the First National Bank. George
Rogers also served on the School Board including three years as Chairman.
A proposal is presented—on behalf of the new owner,Kristen Williams-Haseotes—to
donate the building, with contents donated by the Rogers family,to the Collier County
Museum. The costs to relocate, restore, and renovate the building will be paid by private
donation. An annual scholarship,to be awarded by the County Commission, will be
funded from donations and a new revenue stream from the sale of limited edition prints
and giclees of the original art works on display in the Museum and in the renovated art
studio. 1.

Mrs.Haseotes has developed a team of design professionals to assist her in the Naples
construction projects in which she has been, and is,personally involved and has
designated a project manager to represent her throughout the life of this special project.
She is recognized and honored for design excellence in owner-developed high-end
residential projects. After a two year renovation, her Port Royal home was selected to be
the finale of the 2014 Naples Garden Tour. She offers, along with her project manager
and others,to work with the Museum staff to develop and to review fair and competitive
bids for the project elements-to ensure the highest quality and best price possible.
Bringing special expertise to the project, she offers to personally-or through her
representatives-participate in the interior exhibits and displays in the renovated art
studio. Mrs. Haseotes is committed to underwriting the cost of this project, consistent
with the proposed budget,up to$110,000. Jane Rogers and Ann Rogers Jacobson,
daughters of Anna and E. George Rogers, are also committed to support the project, as
needed,up to $50,000 plus the donation of original art works and artifacts of value. The
project elements and budget are set forth as follows.
Project Budget Line Items
1. Relocation of the E.George Rogers art studio from 454 Sixth Street South,
Naples,to the Collier County Museum. ($52,000 which includes all labor and
equipment to relocate the building, engineered foundation plans for building
permits, labor and materials to construct new foundations, and site clean-up at
the original location.)
2. Site preparation and mechanical upgrades: Permitting, survey, and
new site preparation followed by plumbing, electrical upgrades, and central air
conditioning. ($25,000)
3. Building restoration and renovation: Windows, doors, flooring upgrades, and
painting ($10,000)
4. Exterior landscaping: Plantings,pavers,lighting, signing ($8,000)
5. Interior exhibits and displays: Original art works,painting tools,and supplies;
Caloosa Indian artifacts; and geological specimens. Also, matting and framing of
art works and production of limited edition prints and giclees for Museum public
sale—a revenue source for the Museum. Staging will include museum quality
photos and a video documentary of early Naples to present. ($15,000)
Total estimated moving, renovation, and staging costs: $110,000
Surplus revenues will help support the County Museum. Acceptance of this proposed
donation will add to the economic viability and public appeal of the County Museum,
will further support art appreciation, and will provide a new County-sponsored
scholarship. No public costs are involved and there is no County budget impact.

6. Scholarship support: ($4,000 annually to be awarded by the County
Commission and$1,000 annually to be awarded by the Naples Art Association.
Awards to be made for ten years with a review in five years.)
The E. George Rogers Art Appreciation Scholarship
This scholarship,to be presented annually by the County Commission, provides an
annual award of$4,000 for art-related pursuits including travel and study to the most
deserving person teaching-or inspiring-art in Collier schools. The scholarship will
be funded by initial donations, the sale of art prints and giclees, and other donations.
Mrs.Haseotes offers to contribute an annual gift of$4,000 to support this Art
Appreciation Award plus an additional$1,000 annually to the Naples Art Association
in the name of George Rogers to fund Art Scholarships for Children to attend
practical art classes at the Von Liebig building. The awards will be made for ten
years- subject to review after five years.
The Naples Art Association will be asked to administer the scholarships. Collier
Schools will be asked to consult with the Naples Art Association to help identify
those persons most deserving of the art appreciation award. The County Commission
is asked to award the scholarship. Support letters from the donors and a quotation
from a mover are enclosed.
Thanks to Mrs. Kristen Williams Haseotes-her generosity, her kindness, her love for the
Naples community, and her respect for those of yesterday who helped to make the Naples
of today and tomorrow-this project is entirely self supporting and, with the help and
support of Ron Jamro and the Collier County Museum staff, is self administered. Again,
no public costs are involved. Thank you for your consideration.

Through: Ron D. Jamro,Director

Dear Mr. Jamro and Commissioners,
Regarding the relocation of the E. George Rogers art studio to the Collier County
Museum:
As the purchaser of the former home of Anna and George Rogers and the cottage which
served for so many years as the art studio of E. George Rogers,I am aware of the
historical significance of this small cottage and I believe it is important to preserve it as a
part of the heritage of Naples and Collier County.
The cottage represents Naples as it was evolving from a fishing village, with a nascent art
community and few civic and charitable organizations,to the cosmopolitan community
that it is today. It also represents E. George Rogers and his significant role in this
evolutionary process.
Within the constraints of the proposed budget of$110,000-I will financially support the
expense of relocating,renovating-and staging for public viewing-this historic small
building. Additionally,I will also financially support an art-based scholarship to be
awarded annually by the Board of County Commissioners and administered by the
Naples Art Association in consultation with Collier Schools. I have been advised that the
Rogers family(Jane Rogers and Ann Rogers Jacobson)will also support the project up to
$50,000.
Sincerely,
Kristen Williams-Haseotes

Dear Mr. Jamro and Commissioners,
Regarding the relocation of the E. George Rogers art studio to the
Collier County Museum:
As the daughters of Anna and E. George Rogers, we are very pleased
at the prospect of our father's art studio being relocated to the Collier
County Museum. Having come to Naples in 1952 as children we
remember when there was only sand and palmetto from our house
and the art studio on Sixth Street to the beach.
Our father's art studio was an active little building in those days and
many meetings took place there that resulted in such things as The
First National Bank, The Naples Art Association, The Historical Society
of Naples, and The Mental Health Association of Collier County. As
School Board Chairman, our father signed our high school diplomas.
Our father's paintings hang in over a thousand homes and businesses
and we are custodians of many more paintings that we would like to
make available for public viewing.
It is our great pleasure to support the relocation of the art studio to
the Collier County Museum and the establishment of The E. George
Rogers Art Appreciation Scholarship. We are extremely grateful to
Mrs. Kristen Williams Haseotes, the buyer of our property, for her
recognition of our father and her generous financial support of the art
studio's preservation and the art appreciation scholarship.

Please know that we will support this project, wherever needed, up to
$50,000 and we will provide original art works for display and
reproduction so that prints and giclees can be offered to the public
through the Museum at affordable prices. Through our family's
friendship with the Otter's who had lived on what is now known as the
Otter Mound on Marco Island, we have Caloosa Indian artifacts, and
geological specimens of our own collection, that we would like to offer
to the Museum.
Our father is recognized for his volunteer work in teaching art in the
schools of Collier County and we very much appreciate the
establishment of The E. George Rogers Art Appreciation Scholarship
and the awards in his name to children for study hosted by The Naples
Art Association at The Von Liebig building. For this we again express
our appreciation to Mrs. Kristen Williams Haseotes for her recognition,
kindness, generosity, and support for children and for the arts. We
would very much appreciate the annual award of this scholarship by
the County Commission and we thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
40, Jane RI Ann Rogers J. • +son
