Meeting Minutes for 3-5-07 Special Information Gathering Meeting

NEW BUSINESS: The meeting was attended by thirty-nine (39) local residents from
Everglades City. Name and address information was collected on a "sign-in" sheet.
Ray Smith opened the meeting with a brief welcoming statement, went through the
introduetions, and stated the purpose for the meeting. Robert Wiley followed with a brief
overview of the Floodplain Management Plan and the Community Rating System. Mike
DeRuntz explained the proeess of gathering public input and how the meeting would be
eondueted.
A map and questionnaire forms were available at each table, and for the next thirty (30) minutes
the residents began noting areas of flooding they had personally observed. COMMITTEE
members were available in the room to answer questions of the residents while they were
marking the map and filling in the questionnaires. When it appeared that everyone was done,
none of the residents wanted to stay and callout the types of flooding observed. Thus, no
documentation was made for all to see at the meeting. Based upon the submitted questionnaires,
the following results were obtained:
