Meeting Minutes for 2-5-07 Special Information Gathering Meeting
Start: 6:30 p.m. End: 8:15 p.m.
Location: Lely High School cafeteria
Meeting Attendance: Mike DeRuntz, Jim Turner, Dan Summers, Travis Gossard, Stan
Chrzanowski, Ray Smith, Mac Hatcher, Bob Devlin, Robert Wiley
Absent: Noah Standridge, Lisa Koehler, Gene Calvert, Herb Luntz, Clarence Tears, Charles
Martin, Marlene Wood, Phillip Brougham, Pierre Bruno, Joseph Gagnier, Duke Vasey, Lew
Schmidt, Bill Schutt.
NEW BUSINESS: The meeting was attended by four (4) local residents from the East Naples
area. Names and address information was collected on a "sign-in" sheet. Mr. Alvin Shipmon
from the Florida Department of Community Affairs also came down from Tallahassee to attend
the meeting. Due to the low turnout, Ray Smith allowed Jim, Dan, Travis, Stan, Mac and Bob
Devlin to go home.
Ray Smith opened the meeting with a brief welcoming statement, went through the introduetions
and stated the purpose for the meeting. Robert Wiley followed with a brief overview of the
Floodplain Management Plan and the Community Rating System. Mike DeRuntz explained the
process of gathering public input and how the meeting would be conducted.
A map was placed on an easel at the front of the room and questionnaire forms were available at
each table, and for the next thirty (30) minutes the residents began noting areas of flooding they
had personally observed. COMMITTEE members were available in the room to answer
questions of the residents while they were marking the map and filling in the questionnaires.
When it appeared that everyone was done, each person was asked to callout the types of
flooding observed with the following results:

o Scattered street flooding throughout Pineview Villas, espeeially in the area of Mindi
Avenue
o Lely Golf Estates has a long history of flooding, especially the Doral Circle area
o Naples Estates Mobile Home Park

conditions all summer. Main factor is 1aek of maintained outfall structure and eanal.
Meeting ended when the attendees indicated they had no further questions at that time.
