RESOLUTION 2013- 21 0 A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES AND NUMERIC DESIGNATIONS OF CERTAIN PRECINCTS DUE TO CONSOLIDATION WITH ADJACENT PRECINCTS PURSUANT TO SECTION 101.001(1), FLORIDA STATUTES. WHEREAS, the percentage of Collier County electors who vote prior to Election Day has steadily increased over the last decade; and WHEREAS, the use of electronic poll books for Election Day voting allows for faster processing of voters; and WHEREAS, the consolidation of certain precincts will lead to the more efficient administration of elections and improve voter services, without placing any undue burdens upon electors, including minority electors; and WHEREAS, Section 101.001(1), Florida Statutes, authorizes the Board of County Commissioners of each county, upon recommendation and approval of the Supervisor, to alter or create precincts for voting in the county; and WHEREAS, such recommendation and approval has been given by the Supervisor of Elections to combine and renumber Precinct 155 and that portion of Precinct 101, the Verona Walk Community Development District, as the new Precinct 155; Precincts 156 and 157 as the new Precinct 156; Precincts 205 and 221 as the new Precinct 205; Precincts 332 and 345 as the new Precinct 332; Precincts 592 and 594 as the new Precinct 594. a WHEREAS, such recommendation and approval has been given by the Supervisor of Elections to conform to current precinct boundaries within the City of Naples to combine and renumber Precinct 475 and that portion of Precinct 428, Horseshoe Park of Commerce, as the new Precinct 475; Precinct 479 and two portions of Precinct 428, the Northeast corner of Goodlette Frank Road and 14th Avenue North and the area South of Golden Gate Parkway, East of Goodlette Frank Road, West of the Bear's Paw Development, as the new Precinct 479. WHEREAS, each precinct is numbered and, as nearly practicable, composed of contiguous and compact areas; and WHEREAS, the Supervisor has designated the most suitable polling place for each precinct; and WHEREAS, the Supervisor has provided the census block assignments for the new precincts, created maps to the appropriate scale as specified in section 101.001(3), Florida Statutes, and will be responsible for all statutorily required notifications to the public and the Secretary of State, as required by section 101.001, Florida Statutes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF COLLIER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the above proposed changes to precinct boundaries proposed by the Supervisor of Elections be adopted. Exhibit A and Exhibit B showing the census block assignments and maps of the new precincts are attached hereto.
